Hi, I'm James. I believe that the fundamental purpose of therapy is to create and facilitate change. Whether you are beginning or resuming the pursuit of healthy change in your life, I would love to join you in that effort. As a Marriage and Family Therapist and Supervisor of 15 years, I have had the privilege of serving a wide array of clients and I specialize in collaborating with you to decrease the impact of trauma, severe depression, anxiety, and psychosis. Regardless of the context that brought you to initiate this search, that intentional decision is a commendable step toward creating healthy change. I have spent much of my career serving and leading in agency work, and therefore have seen the results of systemic and societal trauma in its purest form and proudly serve those who are described as "high acuity", as well as those who need help with nagging doubts, sticky insecurities or outdated patterns. I encourage you to take that next step into self-care, healing and change. I pledge to honor your story, your process and to facilitate change. **I am currently only accepting weekly clients (or twice per week if clinically indicated) on the hour. All appointments scheduled at the :15 or :30 mark will be moved and confirmed! Thank you!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

More than anything, I want you to feel the bloom of realization that permanent, positive change is not only possible, but highly likely, with your effort. I want you, as my client to feel optimistic from the first session (with understandable human doubts) that your instincts of "something feels off and I need some help with this" are worthy of care, curiosity and exploration. Expect to be engaged, seen, heard and respected without judgement or cynicism.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

There are many tools and methods for achieving success in therapy, and I am eclectic in my approach to change. I have found that all tools require a solid foundation of safety, transparency and universal positive regard in order to be effective. Every person is unique in their perspective and sensory response to interventions; thus a single tool or treatment modality won't be effective, universally. We find what works, together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have found great success in working with those who are resistant, new or suspicious about therapy. I find myself drawn to serve those who are traditionally underserved and overlooked or who have had negative experiences navigating the healthcare system.
