Greetings! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Wisconsin and also credentialed as a Licensed Independent Social Worker through the State of Minnesota. With over eleven years of practice since receiving my Master's in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin Green Bay, I've developed a deep understanding and expertise in supporting individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, grief, bereavement, and caregiver burden. My approach to therapy is eclectic and tailored, incorporating ACT Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy, and Positive Psychology to address the unique needs and challenges of each client. Beyond these, I hold certifications in Laughter Therapy and Dementia Care, and I've been trained in the whole health approach to wellness. This diverse set of skills and knowledge allows me to offer a comprehensive and holistic approach to mental health and well-being, aiming to not only alleviate distress but also enhance overall life satisfaction and resilience. Whether you're facing mental health challenges, navigating the complexities of caregiving, or simply seeking to improve your overall wellness, I'm here to support you on your journey toward healing and growth.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, you can expect a warm and welcoming environment where you'll be invited to share about yourself at your own pace. We'll begin with brief introductions to establish a comfortable rapport. Following this, we'll delve into the specific challenges you're currently facing. This initial conversation is crucial for me to understand your unique experiences and needs. Based on what we discuss, I'll start crafting a tailored plan that aligns with your goals and preferences. This plan will guide our follow-up sessions, ensuring that each step we take is purposefully aimed at addressing your concerns and fostering your growth. This first session is also a great opportunity for you to ask any questions you might have about the therapy process. Together, we'll lay the groundwork for a journey towards improved well-being.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Additionally, my background and extensive practice in social work have honed my ability to connect with clients on a meaningful level, fostering a therapeutic relationship based on trust, empathy, and understanding. This empathy and understanding, combined with my effectiveness in implementing evidence-based therapies, ensures that clients feel heard, supported, and empowered throughout their therapeutic journey.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

In my practice, I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as a dynamic approach to help you engage more fully with your life. ACT focuses on six core processes: accepting your reactions and being present, choosing a valued direction, and taking action. Instead of fighting your feelings or criticizing yourself, we work together to accept what is out of your control and commit to actions that enrich your life based on what truly matters to you—your values. Through this process, we aim to increase your psychological flexibility, enabling you to respond to life's challenges with openness and resilience, rather than avoidance or struggle.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I integrate Mindfulness-Based Therapy as a core treatment method to help you cultivate a deeper awareness of the present moment. This approach teaches you to observe your thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations without judgment. By fostering mindfulness, you learn to recognize and accept your mental experiences, reducing the impact of stress, anxiety, and depression. Through guided practices, such as meditation and mindful breathing, we work together to develop your ability to stay present and engaged with life as it unfolds. This not only helps in managing difficult emotions and thoughts but also promotes a sense of peace and well-being by connecting more deeply with yourself and the world around you.

Positive Psychology

Positive Psychology is utilized as a treatment method to enhance your well-being by focusing on your strengths and the aspects of life that bring joy and fulfillment. Positive Psychology isn't about ignoring life's challenges but about identifying and amplifying your innate virtues and capacities for resilience, optimism, and gratitude. We explore activities and exercises that foster positive emotions, engagement, relationships, meaning, and accomplishment. By building on what is good in your life, we aim to cultivate a more satisfying and hopeful outlook, improving your overall mental health and resilience. This approach supports you in creating a life that feels more vibrant and fulfilling, emphasizing growth and well-being.
