Hello! I'm Norit Bercovicz (pronounced Nor-reet Berk-o-vitz), a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (#122569) and a Registered Art Therapist in California. Holding a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Rutgers University and a Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy and Art Therapy from Notre Dame de Namur University, I've dedicated over 7 years to working with with diverse populations, from children to military veterans. In my practice, informed by personal growth and training, I blend Art Therapy, mindfulness practices, and more to promote heightened awareness. Embracing a client-centered approach, I meet you where you are, whether or not that involves art-making. Specializing in day-to-day challenges like anxiety, depression, and adjustment difficulties, I also guide individuals in transforming uncertainty into opportunity. Beyond my therapeutic work, I find joy in nature—whether hiking, camping, or on a backpacking trip with loved ones. I recharge by spending time with family, friends, and my delightful fur baby, Shoko.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our initial therapy session, clients can anticipate a warm and collaborative environment where we'll discuss their current concerns, goals, and expectations. Together, we'll begin to establish a foundation of trust, ensuring a personalized and effective therapeutic journey tailored to their unique needs.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths as a mental health provider lie in my empathetic approach, fostering a safe and non-judgmental space for clients to explore their challenges. I bring a diverse toolkit that includes art therapy, mindfulness practices, and a client-centered focus, empowering individuals to navigate their journey toward healing and self-discovery.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

In my mental health private practice, I have successfully implemented Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to empower clients in navigating life challenges. By fostering cognitive defusion, acceptance of emotions, and present moment awareness, individuals develop a resilient mindset. Values clarification guides goal-setting, and committed actions lead to tangible improvements aligned with clients' core values. This approach enables a transformative therapeutic journey focused on embracing personal values and achieving sustainable well-being.
