I am a Bilingual Mental Health Counselor who specializes in child development. Are you concerned your child's behaviors, speech, and motor skills are not aligned with your child's age group range? Are you unable to control your child? Are you concerned with your child's behaviors, anxiety, depression, and grades? Are you concerned about how these behaviors are affecting your child at home, school or in relationships with others? During the initial visit, I will visit only with you so that you can talk openly about concerns and issues that may not be developmentally appropriate to discuss in front of your child. This is an excellent opportunity to talk not just about your child's individual needs but also about difficult family dynamics, family history of mental health or substance use issues, traumatic events, background information about your child's early development, or any other issues that you may not want your child to hear details about at this time. Having one-on-one time with the therapist also allows you to ask questions about my approach, conversation style, professional training, and any other things that you would like to know about me, to help you confirm that I will be a good fit for your child and your family.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In the first session with me, clients can expect a warm and welcoming environment where they feel safe to express themselves openly and honestly. I prioritize building rapport and establishing a trusting therapeutic relationship from the outset. During this initial session, we will focus on getting to know each other and understanding your unique concerns, challenges, and goals. I will actively listen to your story, allowing you to share your experiences, thoughts, and feelings without judgment. We will discuss your reasons for seeking therapy, explore any immediate issues or stressors you may be facing, and begin to identify potential areas for growth and healing. I will also provide an overview of the therapeutic process and answer any questions you may have about therapy or my approach. By the end of the session, clients can expect to feel heard, validated, and hopeful about the journey ahead. Together, we will collaboratively develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your specific needs and goals, laying the foundation for meaningful progress and positive change in your life.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

With extensive experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I specialize in utilizing this evidence-based treatment method to help clients identify and modify unhelpful thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that contribute to their distress. CBT is a structured, goal-oriented approach that focuses on understanding the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and empowering clients to make positive changes in their lives. In my practice, I integrate CBT techniques into therapy sessions to address a wide range of mental health concerns, including anxiety disorders, depression, trauma-related symptoms, and stress management. I work collaboratively with clients to identify specific goals and develop personalized treatment plans tailored to their unique needs and circumstances. Using CBT, I assist clients in challenging negative or distorted thinking patterns, developing alternative perspectives, and implementing practical strategies to cope with challenging situations more effectively. This may involve teaching relaxation techniques, behavioral experiments, cognitive restructuring exercises, or exposure-based interventions, depending on the client's individual needs and treatment goals. Throughout the therapeutic process, I emphasize the importance of building skills and resilience to empower clients to take an active role in managing their mental health and achieving lasting well-being. By incorporating CBT techniques into therapy sessions, I aim to equip clients with practical tools and strategies they can use to navigate life's challenges and cultivate positive change.
