Hi! My name is Carli Sterling (she/her) I am an LMFT in CA. I have a bachelors degree in psychology from UC Santa Cruz and Masters in Counseling Psychology from Palo Alto University. Trauma informed care and eating disorders are my wheelhouse. Wheelhouses? Wheel homes. Outside of therapy, I enjoy yoga, wakeboarding, producing music via GarageBand and Soundtrap; investing in stocks, cryptocurrency, and blue chip art. During the pandemic I taught myself how to change fancy watch batteries and install closetmaid systems. I have a 3 year old mini me. I work from home and she is the worst co worker I’ve ever had. Always open to consult and help in any way I can.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

After introducing myself, I usually have to explain that the loud snoring you may be hearing is coming from my English Bulldog who likes to sleep by feet during session times. He's pretty ridiculous, but people tend to like to see him lounging in the background. You'll then have the opportunity to share your reasons for seeking therapy and what you hope to get out of it. There is no pressure whatsoever to talk about anything you're not ready to talk about. I'll have some generic assessment questions for you and you are always welcome to ask me questions too!

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My clinical strengths include helping people heal from trauma and recover from eating disorders. Often the two are intertwined. When clients find self disclosure meaningful, I draw from my own experiences to instill hope that recovery is absolutely possible as well.

My treatment methods

Compassion Focused

I am rooting for you! My hope is to not only show compassion, but also for you to give compassion to parts of yourself that may have been hiding in shame, fear, sadness, etc. You are here! You are still trying! Having the privilege of being part of people's journeys through change and transformation is truly an honor and I hold session time as a scared space for those reasons.
