I am a licensed clinical social worker with 8 years of experience in the field of mental health. I have specialized in trauma since my graduate training and worked with young adults and adults facing a variety of challenges including childhood abuse/neglect, sexual abuse, abusive adult relationships and "single" traumatic events. I have specialized training and experience working with first responders and veterans as well as men who have experienced trauma including sexual abuse. I provide psycho-education and skills building and do re-processing work around past events when appropriate.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
I will share briefly about my professional background, training and approach and provide a brief overview of the treatment process. The majority of the session will be spent getting to know you and what is bringing you into treatment and what you hope to achieve while in treatment.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
I believe my experience working with a variety of populations is a strength I bring to my work, including adults with mental health and addiction challenges, young adults experiencing homelessness and incarceration, and first responders and veterans, amongst others. I provide a welcoming and open space to explore core issues and difficulties in present functioning. I am also passionate about providing services to men who have experienced trauma, including sexual trauma, and have specialized experience and training to effectively serve these clients.
Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.
I am best positioned to serve clients who are looking to work on unhelpful patterns in their lives and exploring and addressing past experiences contributing to these patterns. Many of us may not realize the past events or relationships that are negatively affecting us in the present. EMDR is one approach I utilize to help clients develop awareness of how past experiences are impacting them in adulthood and address these ongoing patterns by re-processing past experiences. I am also well positioned to work with clients on coping with trauma and PTSD in the present and I provide psychoeducation and skills to help clients heal their traumas in the present, moving forward.
