I focus on adults, couples, and families utilizing a systems approach to help process and maintain a healthy individual self and the relationship. I empower couples and individuals to overcome personal and relational obstacles to help improve themselves and strengthen the couple's dynamic. I have worked with individuals, couples, and families in human services and counseling for eight years using clinically tested and evidence-based therapeutic models and interventions. As a licensed marriage and family therapist, I am trained in psychotherapy and view therapy from a systemic point of view, meaning that I believe the quality of our relationships, being family, friends, romantic partners, etc. plays a significant role in the quality of our lives. Marriage and family therapists broaden the traditional emphasis on the individual to attend to the nature and role of individuals in primary relationship networks such as marriage and the family. As a therapist, I take a holistic perspective on health care; I am concerned with the overall, long-term well-being of individuals, couples, and families. I have a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from St. Mary’s University and a bachelor's in Sociology from the University of Texas at San Antonio. I offer relationship counseling and individual counseling for family and relationship issues.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we will start with brief introductions, then I will ask about specific challenges you are facing and what you hope to gain from therapy. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work towards through your therapy journey.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My treatment methods

Couples Counseling

Couples therapy is beneficial when partners face challenges or conflicts that hinder the health of their relationship. It provides a safe space for open communication, helping couples understand and navigate differences, improve intimacy, and strengthen emotional bonds. I will offer guidance, teach practical communication skills, and facilitate mutual understanding. I will foster a collaborative environment where couples can work together to overcome obstacles and build a more satisfying and resilient relationship.

Attachment-based

Attachment-based therapy focuses on understanding and addressing the impact of early attachment experiences on an individual's emotional well-being and interpersonal relationships. I use this method to explore attachment patterns formed in early relationships and work collaboratively with clients to develop healthier attachment styles. This method can help clients build more secure and satisfying connections through empathetic and supportive interventions, fostering emotional resilience and improved relational functioning.

Family Therapy

Family therapy is essential when families encounter difficulties in communication, relationships, or coping with life changes. I encoureage each family member to express themselves, promoting understanding and empathy. As a Family therapist, I can help identify patterns of interaction, address conflicts, and teach practical problem-solving skills. By involving the entire family, therapy can strengthen bonds, improve communication, and create a supportive environment, fostering positive relationship changes and overall family dynamics.

Gottman method

The Gottman Method in therapy is rooted in research-based principles developed by Drs. John and Julie Gottman. It focuses on enhancing couples' relationships through assessment, skill-building, and intervention strategies. With my Level 1 Gottman training, I bring expertise in utilizing proven techniques to address communication patterns, emotional connection, and conflict resolution within relationships. I am committed to continuing my Gottman training to provide even more comprehensive support for couples seeking to strengthen and enrich their partnerships.
