Welcome to my profile! I am a LPC in Georgia. I received my Master of Arts in clinical psychology from Argosy University. I have over 21 years of experience. I am also a Certified Case Manager and have a deep understanding of the healthcare system. I specialize in empowering individuals through evidence-based modalities like cognitive behavioral therapy, rational emotive behavior therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy. I customize sessions to suit your specific needs. I am dedicated to helping you cultivate a toolbox of strategies for lasting growth and well-being.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the first session of therapy, clients can expect a warm and welcoming atmosphere aimed at building trust and rapport. The session usually begins with introductions where I explain my role, and the structure of therapy. Clients are encouraged to share their preferred name and any relevant background information. After that, I will guide the discussion towards understanding the client's reasons for seeking therapy. This involves exploring their presenting concerns, symptoms, and the impact these issues have on their daily life. I may ask questions to gain a comprehensive understanding of the client's history, including relevant experiences, relationships, and previous treatments. A key focus of the first session is to establish treatment goals collaboratively. I will work with the client to clarify what they hope to achieve through therapy and what changes they want to make. These goals may be broad or specific, short-term or long-term, depending on the client's needs and preferences. In summary, the first therapy session serves as an opportunity for clients to share their story, identify their goals for treatment, and set the foundation for future sessions and the journey toward healing and growth

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths as a provider are my active listening skills, empathetic nature, and ability to adapt to the unique needs of each person I work with. My goal is to create a trusting, compassionate, and collaborative therapeutic relationship that empowers clients to explore and address their concerns. I use my diverse skill set and ongoing commitment to professional development to provide comprehensive and effective care that promotes holistic well-being and positive outcomes for those I serve.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I derive great satisfaction from working with people of all ages who are dealing with issues such as depression, anxiety, stress, chronic pain, and chronic health problems. My approach is based on empathy, compassion, and a desire for positive change. Whether working with young people, adults, or seniors, I aim to create a supportive and non-judgmental space where clients can feel empowered to explore their experiences and develop coping strategies tailored to their needs and circumstances. Seeing my clients overcome their challenges and grow in resilience fills me with immense joy and reinforces my commitment to helping others lead happier, healthier lives.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

During therapy sessions, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to assist clients in identifying challenging patterns of thinking and behavior that lead to distress. Together, we will work to establish specific therapy goals by understanding the client's concerns. We will discuss the CBT model and how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected. Additionally, we will explore automatic thoughts and behaviors and discuss effective ways to respond to situations.

Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy

In REBT therapy, I help clients identify and challenge irrational beliefs that lead to emotional distress and maladaptive behaviors. I encourage them to challenge these beliefs by examining evidence and replacing them with rational, constructive beliefs. Additionally, I teach emotion regulation skills to reduce emotional reactivity.

Positive Psychology

Positive psychology is an approach used in therapy to promote well-being, resilience, and personal growth. This approach utilizes various techniques to help clients overcome challenges and achieve their goals. These techniques include identifying and utilizing clients' strengths, cultivating gratitude, practicing mindfulness, reframing negative thoughts, setting meaningful goals, strengthening social connections, and fostering self-compassion. By applying these techniques in therapy sessions, clients can enhance their emotional regulation, reduce stress, and develop adaptive coping mechanisms. Clients can improve their overall well-being and resilience by focusing on positive aspects of their lives and cultivating a sense of purpose.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a powerful form of psychotherapy that encourages us to accept our thoughts and feelings while aligning our actions with our deeply held values. By practicing mindfulness, identifying our core values, distancing ourselves from unhelpful thoughts, and accepting difficult emotions, we can establish a strong foundation for living a fulfilling life. With cognitive behavioral techniques, values-based exposure exercises, self-compassion, and effective communication skills, we can overcome challenges and pursue a life of purpose and meaning.
