I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker located in Georgia. I have dual Master's degrees in Social Work and Criminology from Florida State University. I have been a therapist for 10 years and my counseling style is providing a non-judgmental and conversational atmosphere with an open and honest dialogue. I moved to Atlanta three years ago and enjoy looking for new places to eat (especially for dessert). In my free time I enjoy sleeping, reading, playing soccer, and playing with my pets.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session, we can go as fast or as slow as you want! We can jump right in or feel free to ask me questions about myself. I like to use a rating scale to assess the intensity of your depression, anxiety, anger, suicidal-ideation, and self-esteem. I will also ask about your goals for therapy and any history of being in therapy before. If you have previously received mental health treatment, I am curious about what has or has not been beneficial about it. We can explore your support system and how they are (or aren't) helpful when you are seeking their support. I also like to discuss your interests, coping skills, and hobbies. Oh, and I will ask if you have any pets and if I can meet them!

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths are my relaxed demeanor, non-judgmental approach, and experience. I strongly believe in providing a friendly and relaxed environment since it can be intimidating to talk about things you don't want to talk about. This is also why I like to include humor in treatment! My non-judgmental approach opens the floor for us to talk about anything you want without having to worry about bias, judgement, or discomfort. My experience is a strength in terms of my experience providing therapy as well as my history of coping with anxiety and trauma. I can relate to a lot of my clients so I better understand the paralyzing fear of what could happen, the challenge of getting out bed, or the stress of family relationships.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I mostly use CBT with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, or PTSD. I focus on helping clients break down thoughts or worries into smaller pieces so that it is more manageable. This technique helps identify negative, automatic thoughts and replace them with more positive ones.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

"Heal from the things you may never hear sorry for." This approach helps clients notice, accept and embrace the feelings around the triggering or stressful events. I use this method with clients who have experienced trauma, challenging family relationships, or difficulty coping with diagnoses.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I am passionate about everyone using mindfulness! I especially use mindfulness with my clients who are experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, or just being busy with everyday life tasks.
