I have a relational treatment approach which means that the relationship that develops between you and me is what facilitates change. You can expect me to be somewhat casual and very approachable. I use humor and compassion to create connection. We will freely exchange ideas, and talk about experiences and the things that are in the way of positive relationships. We will make sense of your experiences and create more stability and satisfaction in all of your relationships. I have a varied professional and personal background that allows me to relate to my clients on many dimensions. I have worked in education, sales, the military and business development. I have been married, divorced, and widowed. I have co-parented and been a step-parent. I use the depth of these experiences to enhance my clinical work. Making sense of complicated circumstances is my specialty. Let’s sort out your most difficult situations together.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I help you to sort through difficult emotions and to understand complicated relationships. Sometimes a little clarity is all you need to make positive changes. Through our work, we will look at your past issues and current approaches to relationships and figure out what is creating problems for you. Ultimately you will learn how to focus on the here and now and develop skills to strengthen your relationships. You will have a better understanding of your strengths and how to use them to improve your relationships. You will also become aware of your blind spots and develop skills for improvement. We achieve this by developing a high-trust environment where you look at the roadblocks in your personal and professional relationships and the skill deficits that keep you stuck.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

To improve day-to-day experiences I help you learn new tools to manage stress, worry, and emotional highs and lows. I also help you learn how to interact in new ways that consider your needs, as well as the needs of others. There are invisible factors that affect how we interact and I help you understand how the things that are outside of your everyday awareness could be interfering with your relationships, productivity, and peace of mind.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have a no-nonsense approach to therapy. I will be frank about what I suspect has you stuck and direct in how I interact with you. I will offer clear observations and plenty of space to come up with solutions that work for you. I specialize in working with men who are stressed out by the pressure of having to be everything to everyone and are confused about why their relationships seem so hard. I also specialize in supporting business professionals and leaders with the management of performance-impeding experiences, such as sleeplessness, mood swings, and racing thoughts.
