Welcome! Are you dealing with the lingering effects of trauma or struggling with the anxieties of daily life? Looking for a personable, empathetic, and energetic therapist? I am proud to walk on this healing journey with you, as you do not have to walk alone. My therapeutic approach is Holistic and person-centered. That is addressing the mind, body, and spirit while holding the belief that everyone is inherently driven toward and has the capacity for growth and self-actualization. My role as a therapist, is to provide a safe, non-judgmental, empathic, and welcoming space for you, regardless of your sex, age, race, culture, religious beliefs, or disability. I was trained to help you figure out what is best for you, rather than giving direct advice or telling you what to do, however, I will be there to guide you along the way. We will work collaboratively to identify skills that are beneficial for you during challenging times. This approach will support growth in self-esteem, confidence, and the ability to regulate your emotions. During our sessions, we will discuss issues that you would like to work on or challenges you might be facing in life. I am trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). These three therapeutic approaches help alleviate the challenges that come with trauma, PTSD, and personality disorders. The skills learned through DBT also assist with anxiety and depression. I will have you challenge negative thoughts and look at other ways to view issues or situations and learn to utilize healthy coping skills. I also like to incorporate mindfulness skills, such as guided meditations, worksheets, practice, and suggested reading.
Expect a judgment free laid back experience. We will review your intake questions and gain a better understanding of therapeutic needs. We will get to know each other better and work together to set goals for treatment. Lets discuss where you want to be and steps we can take to get there. I also try to teach one coping skills on the first session so that you can start practicing immediately.
I have spent the past 9 years of my school and professional career working with individuals that struggle with traumatic events. I am coping skills heavy and will help you build a tool box full of skills that will help alleviate negative symptoms related to mental health challenges. We will use EMDR to process traumatic events that continue to cause difficulty in your life.
I began using EMDR in my practice approximately 1 year ago. This therapeutic treatment was created as a for of trauma treatment, but can be utilized for a myriad of disorders, including, anxiety, depression, and OCD. EMDR allows our mind to heal from traumatic or negative events.
I began DBT training 7 years ago during my graduate internships. DBT is a type of therapy for individuals who experience emotions very intensely. It’s a common therapy for people with borderline personality disorder, but can also be effective in treating anxiety, depression, and other mental health diagnosis.
I began using CBT during my graduate internship and have been utilizing it in my practice for 6 years. CBT is a form a therapeutic treatment that is effective for a range of problems including depression, anxiety disorders, alcohol and drug use problems, and severe mental illness. Scientific research studies suggest that CBT leads to significant improvement in functioning and quality of life. We will use CBT to recognize and thoughts and feelings and change thinking patterns.
I have utilized mindfulness in therapeutic practice for the past 6 years. Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us. Mindfulness is a quality that every human being already possesses, it’s not something you have to conjure up, you just have to learn how to access it. We will work together to help you harness your ability to live life mindfully.
