Are you looking to grow in wisdom and compassion? For yourself? Your situation? Others? Diane Younkins provides support for adults who feel stuck or are in transition and want to develop in wisdom and maturity, love and compassion. Using mindfulness insight and other techniques, she encourages authentic living with awareness, gentleness, humor, creativity and courage. As a trained pastoral counselor, she encourages clients to bring the strength of their faith and belief systems into the mix as part of their healing work. Diane is trained in EMDR, Brainspotting, Counting and Mindfulness to help people heal from trauma.
In the first session, time is spent getting a fuller picture of who your are and your issue, making sure we are a good fit, and making a plan for what is next.
Diane works with clients to tap into their gifts, talents, strengths and ways of being that bring health and wellness and balance more deeply into their lives. This work can be challenging, but it also carries its own rewards of living a more integrated life. By exploring one's hopes, dreams, and difficulties, all parts of life are grist for the mill – I believe that we have the opportunity to grow more deeply connected to the healthier parts of our self and experience life more fully.
Life can be difficult. There are treatment options for various life wounds and traumas that I use. EMDR is probably the most well known and researched. I also use Brainspotting - a treatment that evolved out of EMDR, Flash, Progressive Counting Method for trauma work. To support healing, I also use the creative arts, narrative therapy, client-sensitive spiritual/faith approaches, guided imagery and many other tools to calm the nervous system and allow the client to reprocess and heal from past hurts.
I am a member of the Southeast Brainspotting Institute and take ongoing trainings in this method. This method is unique in that is can be used for trauma, inner resourcing or aspirational goal work.
