At this time of extreme changes, I am here to help you navigate the uncertainty that many of us are facing. Hello, I'm Rachel, I have worked as a mental health therapist/counselor since 2014, (with additional experience during in-residency prior to graduation from May 2013-March 2014). I have provided therapeutic services to young children, teens, adults, families, and couples. I have provided services in a variety of settings such as: residential-inpatient, outpatient clinics, emergency rooms, and a maximum-security prison. I currently work with Veterans, some active duty, reserves, and national guard, primarily in the areas of combat and/or military sexual trauma. I have also worked with this population to help with readjusting to civilian life and other life stressors. I also have experience working with Veterans, who are also government employees, facing a lot of additional uncertainty right now.
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the intake that helps me understand the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
I feel that in working with a variety of populations with many different mental health issues, that I am a very good listener and have an eclectic approach to helping each one of my clients. My willingness to change course when needed and wanting my clients to be and honest if they don't feel a certain approach is working with them. I also use humor, appropriately, when needed.
I really enjoy working with those who have an anxious and depressed mood. Some may need to learn their triggers and healthy coping skills, while others may have been in therapy a while and need to refresh, be motivated, and feel supported.
This was my primary focus in graduate school, graduated with my Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling 4/2014 and have used in every setting I have worked since. I used a lot of thought stopping, reframing, and homework to tailor my clients needs
This is something that I started using at my first post graduate job in 2014, and have continued since. I feel it's important that my clients know that I support and encourage them along their journey to healing
