Hi! I am a licensed clinical social worker based in the South Hills area of Pittsburgh PA. I received my masters degree from Penn West - California University in California PA. I have been practicing as a clinician for 14 years prior to that I have 20 years experience working with children, adolescence, and families. Currently, I am working with adults, veterans, and older adults. I have many years experience, working with individuals with significant trauma histories, PTSD, depression, anxiety, and severe mental illness. I love working with individuals to help them achieve their best possible life.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session will contain a brief introduction. Then we will examine together the challenges you are facing. We will only talk about the things that you are comfortable talking about. This will help me to tailor a specific plan that is very individual for each client.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked in the field of mental health for over 25 years. I have gained the knowledge and skills to not only be an exceptional listener, but to also identify root causes of mental health issues you may be facing and ways to roadmap your success in challenging those thoughts and moving forward to enable you to have a positive life.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I enjoy working with a variety of populations. Helping children and adolescence understand the complexities of life and how to make better decisions is very rewarding. I also enjoy helping adults identify the root cause of their mental and emotional stress, identify any negative thinking patterns, and helping them rewrite their thoughts and feelings to achieve successful living. My clients are looking for ways to make life more manageable. They are eager to put in the work necessary to change their thoughts and feelings.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

We look at your thoughts and feelings and find healthy ways to accept those negative thoughts and restructure your thinking. I use mindfulness and a variety of exercises to increase your psychological flexibility. This therapy works well with anxiety, depression, OCD, stress and PTSD.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

This therapy has been effective for individuals with anxiety, depression, D/A issues, and severe mental illness. Psychological problems are often based on faulty or unhelpful thinking. Together, we will examine this thinking and find ways for you to change your thoughts and learn healthy ways to cope.

EMDR

EMDR (eye movement desensitization and re-processing) focuses on present concerns. EMDR processing helps you breakthrough the emotional blocks that are keeping you from living an adaptive, emotionally, healthy life. We use rapid sets of eye movements to help you update, disturbing experiences, much like what occurs when we sleep. This alternating process helps you update your memories to a healthier present perspective. Once the disturbing experiences have been updated we will work together to integrate these new insights and perspectives into your daily life.

Psychodynamic

Psychodynamic therapy is rooted in traditional psychoanalysis. Here we tend to focus on the roots of emotional issues that are usually found in childhood and early experiences with caregivers. This therapy works really well if you are looking to surface repressed emotions and if you feel chronically sad and lost in life. Together, I can help you become aware of your thought patterns. This therapy can help folks with depression, anxiety, mental disorders, and stress.
