I am a mental health therapist who is based in Orange County, CA. I received my B.A in psychology and social behavior at the University of California, Irvine. My area of study there centered on psychological and neurological functions of a person and how this contributes to each person's unique life experiences. I went on to receive my M.A for social welfare from the University of California, Los Angeles. My area of concentration there were health and mental health across the lifespan. My previous research centered around looking at rates of burnout and compassion fatigue in different work settings. I have also been involved in research centering around how adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) can affect an individual's stress response and how individuals with higher ACEs are more likely to have more negative physical health outcomes later in life. My specialty areas involve working with clients who have gone through different traumas and helping clients adapt, cope and grow. I believe that every client is uniquely different so I tailor my therapeutic modalities to the client's presenting needs. I enjoy my role in helping individuals achieve the best version of themselves. In my free time, I love keeping my mind and body active with physical fitness, reading, being out in nature, traveling and spending time with my dog.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, clients can expect it to be a bit of a data collection session where I would collect demographics, information on the client's background, childhood, current social support system, current situation, and strengths. We would typically start the session with identifying the presenting problem that is causing the client the current distress and malfunctions then end with measurable goals to be accomplished in therapy.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My biggest strengths are my ability to see the light in the darkness, and at the same time, also be able to sit with client in the dark as needed. I always will start where the client is at, and build on their power. I like to empower my clients to make a change in their life and to take charge of their circumstances. I’m good with helping clients filter out the chaos and achieving more clarity and self assurance.

Trauma Informed Care

I have experience working in an outpatient and inpatient facility for several years helping individuals and families in crisis situations. I specialize in working with individuals who have gone through a myriad of childhood traumas and helping them cope, find closure, and heal from the trauma.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have been utilizing CBT early my early experiences with working both in a county mental health setting, acute hospitals, and now with outpatient clients to help clients manage different symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress. I utilize a structured and goal-oriented approach to help clients recognize unhelpful behaviors or patterns, and then learning new ways to cope and reframe to reach a more equilibrium of functioning.

Attachment-based

I have worked with a variety of individuals, couples, and families in identifying each person's individual attachment style originating from childhood, and how this contributes to healthy bonds vs maladaptive attachment styles in adulthood. I believe early childhood experiences/attachment with a caregiver will provide a foundational base on which an individual will learn to navigate relationships with others and by understanding the link, I can help the client develop and refine current and new relationships.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

I have used this treatment method throughout my years of working with clients to help clients gain emotional awareness and then acceptance of the different emotions. I believe that neglected or avoided emotions causes an individual to be in a state of disfunction and can have many negative effects.
