Hi there, I'm Katie! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. If you have been noticing that feeling of never being caught up or always tired regardless of how much sleep you get? Or maybe you are having some doubts around your current relationship? Family stress or unsure how to implement boundaries? I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, adoption, relationship issues, family conflicts, & trauma and abuse. I will support you in exploring your history and uncovering patterns you may not even be aware of so that you can begin to have more control of your emotions and be excited about your life and relationships again. I know from my years of experience working with individuals that you have the ability to make big changes in your life. If you are ready to do the work, you will be amazed at how capable you are to explore parts of yourself you never knew existed. The process of therapy can allow you to grow more quickly than you ever have before. It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. I am here to support & empower you in that journey. My clients are very high-functioning, motivated, and committed to making changes in their love life and I love providing them with tools and techniques so that they can reach their potential and ultimately stop coming to therapy.
In our first session together, it will be our first time getting to know each other. There will obviously be information we need to go through but I also want it to be a chance to start building the mutual relational dynamic between us. I’m open to questions and making sure you feel just as comfortable moving forward as I do.
My favorite way to approach helping people is to take a strengths-based approach. As I have said, I believe you know yourself better than anyone. I have spent a lot of my career so far working with adults who have been dealing with anxiety in any one or all areas of life. As well as, relationship issues or stress from whatever life is currently throwing at you. I enjoy hearing your story and believe your past experiences shape who you are and where you are now. Understanding these and exploring them can help address a lot of current issues you're struggling with.
I have had most success with previous clients who are looking to talk through major life changes and all the feelings they bring up. A client who’s willing to be patient while also going to the hard places and talking about the not so fun things. I love being human with my client and take my time establishing that relationship.
I choose to take a client centered approach with the understanding that you know yourself better than I ever will. Allowing you to build confidence and understanding your needs to help reach your full potential.
I have found that making lasting change can be very difficult if we don’t focus on how it makes our body feel. I have really prioritized understanding the connection between the state our body is in and the ways we respond.
Understanding our relationships with others and the impact these relationships have on our day to day life can really provide insight into our values or bring to light roadblocks.
Always using a trauma focused lens to help understand why we react or feel certain ways. But I mostly like to use it to remind ourselves that we are human and we need to give ourselves a break from time to time.
