Life presents opportunities and challenges. When we are faced with challenges, it is okay to seek support. At Don-Positive Change Therapy, I help you to identify the challenges and plan and implement the solutions that allow you to function in the world in a way that is right for you. I believe this is your journey, and aI m honored to be able to help you achieve the balance in life you deserve. If you are looking for a positive change in your life, then you have come to the right place. We all have times when we experience symptoms, be it anxiety, depression, trauma, or things that just don't feel right. I am trained and experienced in a variety of therapeutic modalities supporting individuals, couples, adolescents, parenting, and family systems. With a focus on language, communication, thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and emotions, you will be on a path toward balance and positivity. Whether you are experiencing challenges with work or life, you can learn how to manage the things you can control, "you!" I truly believe this is "your" journey, not mine, and the sessions are focused on you and what you want to resolve for yourself. I am here to guide, support, and provide you with the necessary tools to succeed.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session is referred to as an "Intake." This is designed to gather the necessary information to best support you with therapy. Ongoing therapy sessions are designed to provide you with the tools, coping skills, and strategies to help reduce your presenting symptoms and allow you to function in the world in a way that is right for you.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe in creating an environment of complete safety and trust. I establish rapport with you and meet you where you are at. My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have been using CBT to help clients identify and challenge negative or unhelpful thoughts, patterns, or behaviors. My CBT sessions are tailored to your specific needs and goals, and I work with you to develop the skills and strategies you need to manage your symptoms and lead a happier, healthier life. To be able to function in the world in a way that is right for you. You will learn to identify and set goals. Learn ways to relax and be in control of yourself through positive reframing and helpful perspectives.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

This method is designed to help you manage symptoms of anxiety and depression through improved mood regulation and enhanced self-awareness. You will learn to cultivate present-moment awareness and nonjudgmental acceptance of thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations. You will also learn how to manage your thoughts and limiting beliefs and how to relax through breath and self-regulation.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

ACT therapy works by focusing on accepting life experiences as they come, without evaluating or trying to change them. It's a skill developed through mindfulness exercises that encourage you to build a new and more compassionate relationship with difficult experiences. With ACT, you will learn how to manage your thoughts and feelings without judgment and criticism. You will become more in touch with positivity, learning to be present, reframe, and adjust to who you are becoming. You will learn the principles of ACT, values, cognitive defusion, acceptance, present-moment awareness, self-as-a-context, and committed action. All while becoming more flexible to change.

Psychodynamic

My psychotherapy services are designed to help you work through a range of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship problems. I am trained in a variety of psychotherapeutic approaches, including psychodynamic therapy, humanistic therapy, and solution-focused therapy. I work with you to find the approach that works best for you. Psychotherapy aims to improve a person's well-being, mental health, and quality of life by addressing their thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and interpersonal relationships. Psychodynamic therapy is a psychological approach that focuses on hidden thoughts, unresolved conflicts, and childhood experiences that shape behavior. It involves understanding the unconscious mind and defense mechanisms and using therapy to gain insight and self-awareness.
