Social work chose me! When I wrote my personal essay for my MSW, I realized social work had always surrounded me. I remember helping elderly neighbors, teaching friends how to count money, and researching services for my autistic brother. There were so many events between those gaps and yet to come. I always desired to help people. My brother’s diagnosis widened my eyes to my calling, but life had other plans for me and I became a secretary. As a secretary, I found myself being hired in the mental health arena, including the areas of AIDS research, mental health, addiction services, and college counseling. Social work is my second career but it's always been my first passion. I pull from both my personal and professional experiences and allow these experiences to teach and mold me.
I value the authenticity of the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist. Our working relationship is vital to helping you navigate your journey. With a strong relationship, the journey can be more impactful and less intimidating. I will be honest, transparent, and encouraging, but I will also challenge thoughts, ideas, and actions to guide your journey.
My treatment approach is integrative, flexible, and unique to each individual. Treatment will focus on the needs and goals of each individual. My treatment modalities include psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapy.
Navigating through our feelings, emotions and thoughts alone is hard. Therapy creates YOUR space; a space to pick pieces apart and leave it all on the floor. You get to create your journey to who you need/want to be. Everyone has a story! Your strength will find your voice and create authentic destined to be. Don’t allow life events to narrate your story.
