Hi! Seeking therapy can be a very difficult process, so I honor your wisdom and your steps in your/your family's healing journey. I genuinely care about you and my heart is truly in this work. Please Note: *For new clients, I am scheduling in-person appointments only with the option of starting out online (and occasionally having online appointments). *Since I specialize in infants, young children, and families, at this time I am not seeing individual adults or teenagers who are not coming to therapy for family issues. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and a Registered Dance/Movement Therapist with more than 2 decades of creative leadership experience and 13 years of clinical therapy experience working with all ages and many different mental health struggles and diagnoses, including extensive work with young children and families. In addition to offering my knowledge and techniques, I trust your wisdom and find it important to follow your needs and ideas as we work together. I am dedicated to inspire and empower you/your family to take ownership of your strengths and develop your resources.
In our first session you can expect to feel cared for and to be heard. After going over some logistics to establish clarity, I will ask questions to get a well-rounded understanding of what you/your family are coming to therapy for, and you will be given time to share as well as ask me questions.
My holistic approach to healing uses several different approaches/modalities to support the integration of the mind, the body, and the soul/emotions. My style of therapy is rooted in body-based and creative interventions because the body has so many coping skills and is a powerful resource for healing. If it is a good fit for you, I use Dance/Movement Therapy and other creative approaches in my therapy. The treatment approaches I use include Gestalt, Psychodynamic, Person-Centered, Play Therapy, Mindfulness, Dance/Movement Therapy, Expressive Arts Therapies, Body-Based/Somatic, Systems, and aspects of CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and DBT. (As an LPCC I provide psychotherapy that brings in my training, credentials, and experience as a registered Dance/movement therapist.)
My passion and specialty is in working with infants, children, pregnant and postpartum women, and families. My biggest strength is using body-based and creative approaches to support healing. Creativity and movement target the parts of the brain related to self-regulation and healthy thinking, and they can create the action of healing beyond just talking about healing. I support caregivers/parents in their expertise of their children and family, as even the greatest parents/caregivers sometimes just need some compassion and support.
