My style is interactive, relational, and compassionate. The therapeutic relationship is important to me and something I consider closely working with clients, along with the whole person, and prioritizing cultural differences. I believe my global experiences and multi-ethnic and multicultural background strengthen my ability to do so. As for my clinical style, I focus on evidence-based practices-- predominantly cognitive behavioral therapies (e.g., mindfulness, dialectical behavior therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy), and take a neuroscience- and trauma-informed approach to care. I earned my Master of Clinical Social Work from Boston University and am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have worked in health social work since 2003 in various settings and positions, but predominantly as a crisis interventionist, consultant, medical social worker, and psychotherapist. I enjoy taking an integrative approach to care and find it effective.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session, we will get to know each other, address the logistical items, identify the areas you want to prioritize in therapy, begin to talk about goals, and explore the different therapy modalities to help you accomplish them. We will also get a better idea of whether we are a good fit or not, discuss that, and go from there.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I specialize in treating anxiety disorders: am a Certified Clinical Anxiety Professional, trauma recovery, grief and loss, and chronic medical conditions, and working with “difficult” people/family members. Additionally, I am predominantly trained in cognitive-behavioral therapies, and am Spanish-speaking.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

My clients are eager to improve but don't yet have the tools and/or skills needed to make this goal a reality. They often feel stuck, overwhelmed, and anxious about their careers or other areas of their lives.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based treatment for a variety of conditions: anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, stressful life situations, relationship issues, etc. It is based on the idea that how we think (cognition), how we feel (emotion), and how we act (behavior) all interact together. Specifically, our thoughts influence our feelings and our behavior. It is easier to change or reframe our thinking than it is to change our emotional states, which is one of the reasons CBT is effective.
