I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in North Carolina, Virginia, and Florida. I became interested in becoming a Social Worker while complete my Associate's Degree in Hospitality. I was a volunteer at a local homeless organization in North Carolina and I was in charge of managing the operations of the kitchen. I later assisted with a mentor program and did not feel I was capable. That led me to reseach other programs. I discovered all the possibilities of becoming a Social Worker which led me to becoming a therapist. I have a wide range of experience working with small children with developmental delays, with adolescents and families in their homes, in psychiatric units with children and adults, prions, and with the VA Medical Center.
During our initial visit, my goal is gather as much information about you and assist you with identifying your goals for therapy. I also want you to feel comfortable getting to know me so we can build a comfortable therapeutic relationship.
I am trained in EMDR, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing to address anxiety, depression, and trauma. I also incorporate a solution-focused approach to situations that are not heavy as others.
With EMDR training, I am able to assist those experiencing symptoms of trauma, anxiety, and depression. Often we have a negative feeling or thought about ourselves and with EMDR, we work on moments in our life to navigate those feelings.
