My name is Joe Stevenson and I am a licensed Professional Counselor and Behavioral Specialist. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Slippery Rock University and my Master’s degree in Psychology Counseling from Chatham University, in Pittsburgh, PA. I have been a Counselor in the Pittsburgh area for many years in Community Mental Health working with individuals, youth, and families. I have extensive experience and training with individuals with Asperger's and other developmental issues. I completed training on Addressing the Psychological Health of Warriors and their Families, through the Center for Deployment Psychology. The focus of this training was on: Trauma Sleep disturbance, Traumatic Brain Injury, Suicidal Behavior, Substance Abuse, and Depression.
In our first session after a brief introduction we will explore the specific struggles/challenges that you are encountering. This will provide information to begin crafting a plan and strategies that have proven helpful, taking your personal strengths and stressors into consideration.
Having much experience building a collaborative positive relationship, to guide and motivate individuals to use tried and true strategies, I have seen very good progress with the vast majority of my clients.
Good progress understands that the body, mind and spirit interact for good overall health I take a holistic approach to reduce current stress, address persistent negative thoughts, and process difficult life experiences and relationships. We can utilize a combination of Cognitive behavioral, Coping skills and Holistic theory. Areas of focus include mood disorders, depression, stress management, anxiety disorders, ADHD, ADD, autism, behavior modification, spirituality, family issues, and relationship issues.
