I'm a licensed therapist specializing in anxiety, depression, ADHD, and life transitions. My approach focuses on developing awareness of how our thoughts, emotions and behaviors are connected, fostering resilience, and empowering clients to work through their challenges. I enjoy creating a non-judgmental and affirming space for adults with short-term or long-standing mental health and emotional distress. Feelings of anxiety and the need for isolation can be internal cues to request reconnection to what makes our lives meaningful. Ideally, enjoying the moment, knowing how to soothe overwhelming feelings, and engaging our sparkling personalities helps us feel alive. My clients enjoy my approach with of finding practical strategies by using guiding questions. Exploring thoughts and emotional pain benefits from curiosity and compassion. I am also trained in EMDR, which can be supportive in reframing negative belief systems and releasing trauma.
In our first session together, we will be discussing in more detail about your concerns and any information you feel is important for me to start to get to know you. The intake is just a starting place to get to know me. I enjoy working with first time clients who are hesitant about if therapy will be right for them. Clients can expect a more structured conversations for our first session to better understand if there are any underlying mental health conditions or if speciality care is needed.
My biggest area of strength with my clients is my gentle and non-judgmental nature. I'm passionate about understanding and Life experiences have encouraged my interest in ADHD, ASD, life transitions, and relationship challenges. Each therapy experience is unique to the client's needs. Some clients are interested in validation and some want more guidance and strategies. In building a strong therapeutic alliance, I work with you to identify emotions and needs that underlie discomfort, avoidance, pain, and conflict. With appropriate cases, EMDR techniques can help to efficiently process trauma and replace negative belief systems with adaptive and resilient views of self and life experiences.
I am, first and foremost, centered on my client's goals, interests, needs, and experiences. This drives my appreciation and respect for your autonomy.
I practice MI through engaging with your desires and past experiences of resilience and coping. Finding your why can help you align with your values and lead a more engaging lifestyle.
When we act in alignment with our values, we approach our emotions with acceptance. It's okay to experience discomfort and important to learn how to cope with uncomfortable emotions.
Sometimes we know things logically but feel in our heart a different experience. EMDR helps provide structure in reframing uncomfortable emotions and experiences to adapt and regain positive perspectives.
