Matthew Tentler is a marriage and family therapist in Southern California. He specializes in treating in depression, post traumatic stress disorder, addiction and cultural, spiritual, and identity issues. After working as a teacher, a professional behavioral analyst, and later as a first responder on a mental health crisis team, Mr. Tentler worked as a lead clinician for a non-profit providing aid for survivors of human trafficking, where he developed a trauma informed martial arts, self defense and somatic therapy program.
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored treatment plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
I offer a different approach to therapy that is less abstract and more focused on creating serious changes in the way our minds function. Issues regarding family conflict, sexuality, gender, anger, trauma, and religious or existential questions are my specialty.
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is an approach to psychotherapy that uses cognitive behavioral therapy methods in conjunction with mindfulness meditative practices and similar psychological strategies. This is an evidence based approach, that is skill focused, with me you can quickly learn skills to apply to your daily life.
