I earned my doctorate and post-graduate master's degrees in psychology and my master's degree in counseling from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa. Professionally, I retired from the United States Air Force as a senior non-commissioned officer, and since retiring, have worked in several different behavioral health settings. In addition to my private practice, I am a graduate-level adjunct professor of counseling psychology.
In our first session together, we'll begin by getting to know one another and discussing your priorities to be addressed throughout our sessions.
I would describe my overall style as being solution-oriented, open-minded, and warm.
CBT is particularly useful in exploring and identifying ways to - healthy - cope, by understanding how we respond to triggers or stressors, and how triggers can influence our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
While we cannot go back in time and change how things have influenced our present day behaviors, solution focused therapy can help us to identify behaviors (or patterns of behaviors) and develop the tools necessary to overcome these behaviors to plot a healthier future.
