Hello! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Virginia with 20+ years of professional work experience. I earned a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from South University. I am an approved Clinical Supervisor by the Counseling Board of Virginia. My experience has included working in both public and private sectors, in outpatient, hospital, detention centers, schools and community-based settings, providing mental health treatment to children, adolescents, and adults.
In your first session you can expect a warm and welcoming environment where you feel safe and comfortable sharing your story. We'll start with brief introductions to establish rapport and build a healthy therapeutic relationship. You will have the space to discuss your current challenges and/or stressors and how they are disrupting your daily life. Lastly, we will start the process of creating an individualized plan where you identify your treatment goals for our sessions together.
Whether serving as Outpatient Therapist, Crisis Worker, Parent-Coach or Community-Based Counselor, each of these roles have presented opportunities for me to help individuals and families find healing, support and success. I am passionate about supporting those I serve build resilience, self-esteem, recognize their own strengths, and become the best version of themself, one session at a time.
I've used CBT in my practice for over nine years. CBT has helped clients become aware of inaccurate or negative thinking and view challenging situations more clearly and respond to them in a more effective way. During sessions we will use CBT to promote increased self-awareness of emotions, thoughts, and behaviors that dampen your feelings and moods. We will use this awareness to empower you to cope with your situation in a healthy way and to feel better about yourself and your life.
