My focus is on helping people find purpose and empowering themselves, which includes the development of self-awareness and self-worth. I believe in the power of a supportive and strong relationship between therapist and client. In order for healing or change to occur, I utilize various therapeutic approaches and techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy/CBT and Dialectical Behavior Therapy/DBT. I believe that it is important for a client to commit to the process and have enough trust in me so that growth and healing can take place.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the first session, we will discuss why you have come to therapy, what you hope to achieve and important or relevant personal information. The goal is to help develop connection and comfort with me and the process. I will also check in with you at the end of the session to discuss how you feel about beginning the journey with me.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am a good listener and remember a lot of details about my clients. I am empathetic and able to find connection even when I may not have had the same experiences. My focus is on the client and whether or not they feel they are benefiting from our working relationship.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have been using CBT for years. It helps clients become more aware of their thoughts/feelings and gives them a more specific action plan. I also use handouts to help gather more information.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I have had multiple trainings over the years with DBT. I tend to use worksheets, measurements and coping strategies associated with DBT instead of the more specific DBT approach.

Psychodynamic

My approach is the apply client specific methods and approach. Working with the client to identify what they would like to address/explore/change and examine expectations.
