Hi! I'm Randy, a licensed therapist in the state of California. As both a therapist and human being I understand that life is hard. The fast paced nature of adulthood does not do us many favors either. In my work I strive to create a safe and welcoming space that allows you to slow down to better identify goals and areas of concern. I focus on assisting you in developing skills to navigate, cope, and communicate your emotions more effectively. By doing so I hope to help you foster a better relationship with yourself and ultimately improve your quality of living.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

First and foremost you can expect a safe, welcoming, empathetic and nonjudgmental environment where you are able to be yourself. In this space we can explore specific challenges you may be facing, and what goals you may have while in therapy, and anything in-between. Together we will collaborate on how best to approach therapy (talking points, skills to work on, goal setting, etc.) and create a rough plan/outline on how best to utilize our time together. If we're going on a road trip think of our first session as us mapping out our route, and our future sessions as us going on this journey together!

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a 1st generation POC male therapist I offer a unique perspective. Representation matters, and I represent two groups (POCs and men) who rarely seek out mental health services. Navigating mental health as a POC and/or man is difficult. In a sea full of unfamiliarity I hope to be the lighthouse for those groups that may not feel as seen or heard. On top of my empathy, listening, and problem solving skills, I utilize my lived experience as a way to build deeper connections to client's from similar backgrounds as myself. Helping you feel better and live a more fulfilling life is the goal, and I will do anything in my control to help get you there.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Our mind is a unique thing. At times it helps us achieve goals once thought unobtainable and at others it has us questioning our own thoughts and actions (did I turn off the oven, am I good enough, do they like me?). I've utilized CBT with dozens of clients to aid them in challenging and reframing those not so helpful thoughts to assist them in reducing anxiety, depression, and stress. After all we spend the most times with ourselves so wouldn't it be great if our inner dialogue was a little nicer?

Person-centered (Rogerian)

No one knows your story more than you. As a therapist I am privileged and honored to be invited to listen to your story. Every story is unique, therefore the work I do with all my client's is catered to their unique story. I am here to support and guide you in anyway I can. I will not tell you what you "should" do, but rather will listen and work with you in this partnership to get you where you want to be.

Multicultural

As a child of immigrants and 1st generation POC, I understand the value and importance of one's culture. It can play a pivotal role in how we grow and view the world. With that in mind, in my practice I make it a priority to be inclusive and respectful to all cultures. I am always happy and willing to discuss culture and make it a focal point of therapy (if needed).
