I understand that taking the step of beginning therapy can feel intimidating, so I strive to create a warm, comfortable and relatable space from the very first session. During this session, we will focus on getting to know each other and understanding what brought you to therapy. We'll discuss your background, current challenges and your goals or expectations of what you hope to gain from our time together. We'll also talk about how therapy works and what to expect and I will answer any questions that you have to ensure you feel comfortable about the process. At the end of the first session, we'll collaborate to begin determining a plan for going forward.
I have worked in the counseling field for almost a decade and have experience working in both clinical and school-based settings. I have worked extensively with children, teens and adults. I aim to create a space where you feel safe and supported to explore and process through your emotions at a pace that feels most comfortable for you. I focus on helping clients achieve progress by identifying clear goals and creating actionable steps to equip you with tools and strategies that you can use in your everyday life and to help you create meaningful change.
CBT is a goal-oriented and collaborative approach that can help you to understand the connection between your thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Through CBT, we will work together to identify negative or unhelpful thought patterns and challenge and reframe these thoughts to assist you in increasing self-awareness and developing new ways of thinking.
SFBT is an approach that empowers you with the confidence and ability to take action in the face of challenges. Through this approach, we will work together to identify your strengths, set clear, attainable goals, determine practical solutions and build upon what is working well and the tools you already have.
