Hi! I have been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for 14 years. I graduated from the Marriage and Family Therapy program East Carolina University in North Carolina and also hold a Bachelor degree in Child Development and Family Relations. I help women of all ages to tackle challenges that lead to significant stress and prevent them from reaching their goals

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session, we start with introductions, then we will talk more in depth about the challenges you are experiencing. My goal is to get to know you more and gain an understanding of your strengths, concerns, and struggles. This will help us to develop a plan and goals specifically for you. The plan and goals we come up with will shape our future meetings together. My goal is for you to have a safe place you feel heard. Together we will sort out the factors contributing to your current dis-satisfaction and work on a unique plan to become the person you have always dreamed of.

Attachment-based

As a therapist who is relationally trained, I know and see that our primary attachment styles impact our interactions and communication with those we are in relationship with. When we are aware of how our behaviors and interactions are impacted by attachment, we can choose to change some of our relationship interactions and cycles. My goal is to help clients to understand attachment styles, identify their own primary attachment style, understand how their attachment style and history impacts their day to day lives, and see opportunities for creating change in their relationships and attachment styles.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy focuses on how our thoughts, feelings, and actions impact one another. My hope is that in examining these three areas closely, we can make shifts in one or more areas that create a domino effect of change, leading to overall positive changes in well-being.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness-the practice of being aware of and acknowledging (without judgment) our internal experiences including our emotions, thoughts, and bodily sensations. Practicing mindfulness has tremendous effects on our overall health and wellness, including improving symptoms of depression and anxiety, along with helping us to choose how to respond over reacting out of emotions. We will work together to discuss mindfulness, practice regular mindfulness strategies, and learn how to be mindful so that we can regulate ourselves and move closer to those we are in relationship instead of our emotional reactions causing division in our relationships.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I love Solution-Focused Therapy because it helps us to become "unstuck" in our problems. It challenges us to look at "What's going well?", "How have I overcome in the past?", "Where do I want to be?", "When things are better, what will that look like?". In asking these questions instead of staying focused on, "I'm stuck, I'm stuck." and everything that is going wrong, it helps us to shape our lives to be where and how we want them to be.
