Hello, I'm Melanie. Do you feel like your life is out of control due to your circumstances, your anxiety, or other factors? We can work together to determine what's not working and how to make life run more smoothly for you so that you feel more at peace. I have 17 years of experience as a therapist in varied settings as well as lots of life experience with loss, mental health issues and parenting. I promise to provide you with a safe space to express yourself as well as plenty of evidence-based techniques. I hope we get the opportunity to work together to help you start to feel more in control of your life and your current situation.
The first session is a good time for me to find out what your goals for therapy are, to get to know some of your history if you are comfortable sharing that, and to instill some hope that you can feel better than you did when you made your appointment! It's also a good opportunity for you to ask questions and to see if you feel we are a good fit or not.
My strengths are making clients feel comfortable and supported, teaching coping skills, creating analogies to relay concepts in a more digestible manner, and collaborating with clients to come up with a treatment plan that works for them.
I was trained in this treatment method because it is extremely effective in working with anxiety in particular.
