CBT is often considered the gold standard of therapy. It has been highly researched and shown to be an evidence-based treatment to improve functioning and the quality of your life. Using CBT, first, we'll aim to get you feeling better as quickly as possible by teaching you practical tools you can use to get more in charge of how you feel throughout the day. Then, we'll dive deeper to the root of the problem so that the need for it to resurface is eliminated. We'll do this by exploring how your thoughts, feelings, and actions work together. You'll be able to examine your automatic thoughts that come from the programmed beliefs and perceptions that you've picked up along the way and internalized over time. After taking a look, you can decide if these thoughts and beliefs are helpful or if they even serve you any longer. Finally, we shift what hasn't been working for you so that you can better understand the past, get back to enjoying the present, and start crafting the future you want.
The person-centered treatment method starts with the foundation that you are a whole and capable person. Really, you're the expert on yourself. You have ability to decide what's right for you and make the changes you desire. Sometimes it just takes additional self-exploration to get to the clarity of what feels best for you and the steps that you would like to take next. Person-centered therapy allows me to help you unlock your own self-discovery, self-love, healing, and growth. My role in the journey is as a partner who can help you learn to trust yourself, lean into your own intuition, and run everything through your own filter to see what feels right to you.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment is designed to help you shift from spending energy and time focusing on the problem to focusing on the solution. My job is to remind you that you've successfully handled many challenges in your past and that you are able to do that again in the present. This approach asks you to feel your feelings, but to not get stuck in them any longer than needed. Focusing on what's going well, what is improving, and how to take more steps to get to the outcome you want is the highlight of this method.
