I am a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist based in Philadelphia. I am originally from California where I worked primarily worked in Group Homes and behavioral hospitals. I recieved my masters from Capella University. My background also includes outpatient, community based outpatient programs, like Family Base, and social work. I take a collaborative approach with my clients to allow them room to develop a sense of safety and security and gradually include holistic and intensive interventions to work through and understand presenting problems.
Clients will get room to share and express themselves. The first sessions are usually light, depending on where the client's comfort level is. I like to allow my new clients the opportunity to set the tone with sharing about themselves beyond their wellness, and allow me to know them as a person first.
My greatest strengths as a provider are my active listening and comprehension skills, ability to develop strong relationships with my clients, and helping clients identify the roots to their challenges, and develop skills to manage them.
This is an approach that is a personal favorite, as mindfulness continues to show the user new avenues of healing in their own journies, without the pressures of pathology other treatment modalities enforce. Mindfulness aids in treatment progress, creating new ways of thinking and viewing ones problems and ailments, as well as developing holistic and practical approaches to manage symptoms as they arise.
I use a Solutions based focus towards treatment for over 10 years, finding exceptions in ones narratives to develop more consistent growth and development in ones lives. I have found that this approach allows for clients to reframe their focus and identification of their problems, and ultimately develop key skills and thought processes to continue managing the symptoms of their mental health.
My practice in family therapy is very intensive, and I have over 10 years experience working specifically with families in both a therapeutic and social work setting. This experience allows me the vantage point fo understanding the family dynamic beyond just those presenting in the therapy office, but to consider the intersectionality of all systems at play in conjunction with the family dynamic. My experience is based in Eco-Systemic Family therapy, in which I value the family systems input as a part of the treatment process, allowing for mutliple points of views and solutions.
I have 5 years of extensive trauma based therapy, being certified in TF CBT in 2024. I have experience dealing and processing through various forms of trauma, in various stages of life and development, including intensity of said traumas. I take a gentler approach, allowing a lot of room for rapport building before beginning any interventions of the modality to allow for clients to feel SAFE and grounded when diving deeper into trauma narration.
This is a home base approach, being this is beyond a treatment modality but a way of life. It helps tie together the other approaches, allowing for a full picture of treatment, as the client develops their own understanding of their place in life, as they navigate their mental wellness. I encourage clients to see beyond "what happened" to them and begin to explore what those events inform for their futures and goals, moving them beyond survivors of their mental health, but thrivers with expertise on who they are.
