Natalie Schley has experience working with trauma, anxiety, mood disturbances, and general mental health difficulties that disrupt one's ability to be fully present in their day-to-day experiences. Natalie utilizes EMDR, DBT, and CBT approaches and techniques. She believes that each individual has the capacity to work through whatever obstacles they may face if only provided the right tools. Her focus in therapy is on helping each individual feel more confident in themselves to conquer their life challenges.
In the first session I focus on just getting to know my client and what their needs are. We will discuss what needs have brought you in and develop a plan specific to you that will best meet your needs.
Having worked in a variety of settings over the past 4 years, I've learned to meet people where they are in their therapeutic process. I am open-minded and empathetic, but also hold clients to their goals and will point out obstacles that may be causing road blocks to progress. I believe that rapport and a healthy therapeutic relationship are the cornerstones to a good experience in therapy and feeling comfortable enough to work through deeply rooted challenges.
I love working with adults who are feeling like they are finally ready to make the difficult changes in their lives that they may have been contemplating for a long time. My clients are eager to improve and make changes but maybe struggle to know how or what the first steps are. They may feel overwhelmed, anxious, or held down by events or moments in their lives that have been hard to work through.
CBT is a great starting point for anxiety, depression, and sorting through the ways in which our brains can work against us at times.
DBT is excellent for emotion regulation techniques, managing big emotion shifts, and communicating needs.
EMDR is effective for treating anxiety, trauma, self-esteem issues, and many other difficulties impacted by the negative ideas we have about ourselves and the roles we play.
