Hi, I'm Alex (she/her/hers). I'm a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Illinois. I received my Masters from Webster University (Saint Louis, MO) and have been practicing for 5+ years. I help young adults struggling with anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief/loss, ADHD, support needs, and more. I love utilizing an eclectic approach because no one theory or modality works with all clients. My goal is to help you reach your goals and help you be the best version of yourself.
First sessions look different for everyone. I love doing some introductions to get to know one another. I provide a space to cover how to contact me, scheduling, paperwork, and other important information. Next, is the big part - we start to get into what led you to seek out therapy. I work to provide a safe space for clients to feel comfortable, accepted, heard, supported, and respected. All are welcome here and you are safe here. Next, we are going to talk about a lot of different topics (symptoms, current issues, past concerns, previous therapy, medical, family, and more). Lastly, we will come up with some goals that will help lead our sessions and the direction we take in your space.
I meet my clients where they are at in their journey. Everyone is unique, different, and therefore have varying needs. Sometimes we might have a conversation that leads to laughing, crying, activities and you might not even realize you're engaging in therapy. I like to incorporate strategies that allow comfort and promote personal growth. I work to foster an environment where we both get to be ourselves.
I like to utilize aspects of CBT to help clients learn to reframe thoughts, explore cognitive distortions, build coping skills, and challenge automatic thoughts.
I like to utilize various techniques from SFT to help clients explore exceptions, solutions, goals, and help them explore new ways of thinking.
I love being able to teach my clients how to do something, teaching new things, or being able to help educate on various topics.
I strive to provide a safe, supportive, and validating space to my clients.
