Donna Bauer
I am a clinically licensed social worker LCSW. A graduate from Walden University. I have years of practice and have worked in addictions, corrections, family and children services, group homes for developmentally disabled, and community mental health centers . I am my clients biggest advocate.
I get to the root of the problem even if it is not the designated problem that the client wanted to address because until you solve the underlying issues you will not feel recovered.
I help my clients feel better about themselves and guide them on their path to recovery.
First session
In the first session, I will introduce myself and my qualifications. I will learn about who you are by taking a biopsychosocial assessment. I will have you define your problem and establish goals to work on in future meetings.
Strengths
As a provider, I am very empathetic and a good listener. I listen not only with my ears to what the client says but with my eyes and heart noticing what is not said. I get to the root of the problem even if it is not the designated problem that the client wanted to address because until you solve the underlying issues you will not feel recovered. I know when and how to challenge mental blockages and offer tools and techniques to use to make more progress.
Ideal clients
I enjoy working with women who have experienced trauma in their childhood or domestic violence in their relationships. While working in corrections, my focus was on women's issues and establishing a rehabilitation program in the jail setting. These women were strong but often misguided and left without resources in the communities in which they lived.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I find the use of CBT to be effective with most symptoms of mental distress. If you can change your perspective you change change your behavior and make moves to improve your situation. This is accomplished through talk therapy, mindfullness, and practice through homework assignments.
