Thank you for taking the first step to feeling better about yourself and your life, or the life of someone who you care about, in looking for a competent and experienced therapist. My name is James Neeck. I am hoping that I can be the person who supplies the help and support that you or your loved one needs, as you or they engage in the change effort. I have over 20 years of experience in working with adolescents, young adults, children, and adults. Additionally, I have experience in working with first responders (police, fire, emergency medical personnel); members of the military, and veterans. As a therapist, my primary goal is to provide my clients with the most competent and professional services that I can offer them. I recognize the importance of the therapeutic relationship, in partnering with my clients in the change effort. Whether the issue is: trauma, anxiety, depression, social anxiety, relationship issues, or other emotional or mental health concern, my focus is to develop a plan with my client and to work toward the goals that they want or need to achieve in therapy. I consider being able to aid my clients in being where they want or need to be in their lives, both an honor and a privilege.
The purpose of the first session is for me to assess what your concerns are and why your are seeking therapy. We will discuss what your needs and expectations are for therapy and how you feel that I can help you. The first session is also the beginning of the therapeutic relationship, where we will begin to partner together, in order to provide you with the best possible care, interventions, and treatment, which you are seeking. I will also discuss the the process of therapy with you and how it can work.
I have experience in working with adolescents and young adults. I work in the education system, so I am keenly aware of the issues that affect adolescents, young adults, and their families. I believe that I am very good at assessing a client's needs and developing a plan to address those needs. I believe that I am very empathetic, patient, and understanding. I partner well with clients in working through their issues. I feel that I am insightful and utilize my knowledge, skills, and experience, in helping clients to understand their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and how to address them. Also, I am a former first responder and military social worker and veteran, so I can respond to the needs of these clients, using my own personal and professional experience.
I primarily use this treatment method in my practice, because I believe that it is the most effective for addressing issues related to anxiety, trauma, depression, self-image, behavior, and relationship issues. It is an evidence-based treatment, which has a proven success rate, where clients are able to utilize various coping strategies, which are used to help clients to reframe negative thoughts and feelings, in order to modify or change the thoughts. feelings, and behaviors, which the client needs or wants to address. I have used CBT with successfully with adolescents, young adults, and adults, who have experienced a myriad of traumas and other mental health and emotional issues.
This treatment method is particularly effective with children and adolescents who have experienced Trauma(s) and/or other Adverse Childhood Experiences, including abuse, separation or divorce, bullying, deaths, illnesses or injuries, domestic violence, and family issues. It is basically a short-term 12 session treatment method, where the child or adolescent learns about trauma and its affect on a person. They also learn about triggers, which can cause them to revisit their trauma and how to cope with those triggers. The treatment also involves the child/adolescent discussing their trauma with the therapist and writing a trauma narrative, which they can share with a parent(s). I have used this treatment methods successfully on numerous occasions, particularly with children/adolescents who have experienced abuse, violence, or deaths, in their life experiences.
