Hi, I'm a licensed professional therapist in Texas I received my PhD from the University of the Rockies in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 2017 and my Masters in Counseling in 2005. I have 19 years of experience working with people struggling with mental health problems including Trauma, Anxiety, and more. I'm here to offer you a safe place to be open and honest without fear of judgment. You have taken the first and most important step by reaching out for help.
In our first session, we will start by introducing ourselves to each other for a short time. We will talk about any specific problems you are having right now, and find ways to ease your struggle. We will see what some automatic thoughts and feelings come up for you when it comes to your goals. This will be followed by finding hope for what you feel will happen after accomplishing your goals. This will help us find steps to accomplish your goals that can foster success. These steps will be worked on in the folowing sessions to help you move forward to your hopes for recovery.
I have been described as supportive, caring, and compassionate. I have worked with many populations over the last 19 years and found that my therapy style skills work well to help those with trauma symptoms. For the last two years, I have been doing online therapy and have learned a lot to help me be a better online therapist and create a safe environment for my clients. Recovery starts with a safe environment and I have seen many clients recover and move on with their lives by learning how to create a safe environment in their lives too. I have a PhD in psychology and enjoy teaching people how to use mindfulness and new ways of thinking to move forward on their journey.
I am a holistic therapist and work on helping clients find ways to recover using skills for improving their Mind, Body, and Spirit. I have used mindfulness skills to help others recover from distress intolerance, triggers, and panic. Mindfulness skills are also helpful in recovering from trauma symptoms. I found that using mindfulness-based therapy can create a safe and calm place to help clients recover
Cognitive distortions can cause life to feel overwhelming, creating increased anxiety and depression. Cognitive restructuring and CBT are helpful ways to find the truth through the fog of these distortions. I have found that using CBT is helpful for clients to find ways to cope with racing thoughts, intrusive thoughts, negative thoughts, and more.
