Starting with a new therapist takes a lot of courage. Courage to admit to ourselves that what we’ve tried before hasn’t helped, and we might benefit from another perspective and someone’s knowledge who has training and experience. I can tell you all about the alphabet soup (credentials) behind my name, but what I know to be most important is the relationship you build with your therapist. I've been told I’m easy to sit with and talk to. I believe that while therapy can be hard work, it can also be a time of funny reflection. Having a positive therapeutic relationship is a big part of what heals us, and it is my desire that we can sit together and laugh, experience tears, and talk openly about your greatest concerns and pains. If you’re thinking about starting therapy, please feel free to request a complementary 15 minute consultation where we can talk and see if we might be a good fit for each other. I have experience working with adults experiencing grief and loss, addictions, ADHD, and trauma. Even if you’re not sure therapy is right for you, there is no commitment for a consultation. You might just discover that you’re ready to feel freedom from the burdens you’ve been carrying with you. *My alphabet soup (credentials)= ATR-BC (Board Certified Art Therapist), CAADC (Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor), CCTP (Certified Clinical Trauma Professional), EMDR-PT (Certified Eye Movement Desensitization Reprograming Practitioner), LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor)*

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During your first session, we will get to know each other a little. I tell you a little about me and then I turn it over to you to get to know you better. I will offer you time to ask questions about me, my style of work, and what to expect in future sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I think my greatest strength as a therapist is that I'm a real person. I engage with you during your session and don't just say things like "oh okay... yes I see... Mmmhmmm..." Instead I offer other perspectives. I may challenge some things that may be holding you back, and I will be supportive and tell you when you're doing great work!

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I love working with individuals who are ready to make some changes in their lives and who understand that therapy is a process. I enjoy helping someone go from a point of needing to help to overcome a trauma/addiction/anxiety to watching them blossom and become who they have wanted to be- feeling healthy. At this time, I only serve individuals 18 years of age and older.

My treatment methods

Grief Therapy

I'm no stranger to grief. I understand the unexpected ups and downs that come with losing a person, pet, job or opportunity. I also understand and offer support for disenfranchised grief such as losing a home, possessions, having a natural disaster take things we never expected to lose, or even grieving something that never came to be. Grief is a beast, but I'm here to walk beside you as you mourn your loss(es).

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Person-centered therapy is the heart of the work I do. This allows us to place you, your desires, your hopes, and your goals at the forefront of your care. Together we decide what treatment will look like, and I provide a safe, nonjudgemental experience for you to be able to focus on your outcomes. This style of therapy also means you get to talk about what is most important to you, and your therapist does not have an agenda to accomplish.
