Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a type of psychotherapy that helps individuals accept and embrace their thoughts and feelings rather than fighting or feeling guilty for them. ACT encourages people to commit to actions that align with their values and aims to increase psychological flexibility by promoting acceptance and mindfulness strategies combined with commitment and behavior change techniques.
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) combines the principles of cognitive therapy with mindfulness strategies to help individuals better understand and manage their thoughts and emotions. MBCT teaches clients to focus on the present moment and observe their thoughts without judgment, which can reduce the risk of relapse in depression and help manage other conditions like anxiety and stress.
