Hello and welcome! I'm Melissa Fontenot, and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas. I've been in practice for 5+ years. I specialize in helping overwhelmed adults in their 20s to 40-somethings who are struggling with anxiety, stress, and low self-esteem. Now, more than ever, people are feeling overwhelmed and uncertain with juggling responsibilities, relationships, careers, and trying to find their place in life. Constant overwhelm can make it seem like change is impossible, and can lead to burnout and physical distress. I help you to learn skills so that you don’t have to struggle anymore.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our initial session, we will go deeper into your life experiences. Then together, we will create a plan that serves as the guide for what you want to achieve. Most begin to see progress with weekly or biweekly sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Being a Millennial myself, and having experience extending 9+ years of working with adults in their 20s - 40s, allows me to understand the unique challenges that Gen Z and Millennials face. With training, continued education and utilizing techniques in therapy, I'm able to help clients to become more aware of unhealthy thoughts and behavior patterns, recognize their strengths, and develop healthy coping skills.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I've been trained in CBT and I use these methods to assist clients with becoming more aware of thought patterns, that impact feelings and behavior patterns which leads to anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and other issues that effect their wellbeing and relationships.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I've been trained in person-centered therapy and use this method for clients who are insighful or who want to become more insighful. I allow clients to be able to express themselves and use reflection to help with working through problems.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I've been trained in SFBT and use this approach to assist clients with becoming aware of their strengths and resources to help with building their confidence and resilience.

Mind-body approach

I've been trained in using somatic approaches to help clients with learning coping skills that help with reducing anxiety and stress, through grounding and relaxation techniques.
