Hello! Thank you for checking me out! Do you feel uninspired or stuck in your life? Do you want to consider what living authentically means for you? Are you a woman who wants to create new or deepen your existing relationships? Do you need support and guidance through a specific issue? Are you a mom looking to create a more full-filled, balanced life? Then, I might be a good fit for you! My name is Jenny Evans and I am a 42y/o Licensed Professional Counselor. I have been counseling for over 11 years. I was born and raised in the South in Middle Tennessee. I grew up around animals and in church at least 3 times a week with my parents having 2 veterinary practices and my mom being the youth director. Therefore, I have developed a strong love for all animals big and small and am an active practicing Southern Baptist Christian today! I have been married 19 years to a loving and supportive husband. Marriage is HARD period but worth it in so many ways if you are willing to roll your sleeves up and dig into learning and growing together through the expected and unexpected ups and downs life with undoubtedly throw your way. I have 2 beautiful and smart daughters that drive me crazy every day but continually teach me so many things about life and myself that it is just unimaginable. We have 2 cats, 2 turtles, and 8 fish today (I haven't done a head count this morning though, sometimes they disappear ;). I always found myself as the "go-to" person friends and family went to during difficult times and/or needing advice. My passion to help others by listening and learning drew me closer to the mental health field. I went on and earned my BA in Psychology at UT Knoxville and my M.ED in Counseling and Human Development at Lindsey Wilson College. I feel such joy when I know I am helping make a difference and/or have helped someone change their life for the better. It is my passion! I feel I am a passionate and innovative leader that has worked in a variety of mental health settings. I have worked in the prison system for women inmates, crisis stabilization, alcohol and other drugs, private practice, outpatient, intensive outpatient, partial-hospitalization, and inpatient treatment. I have worked with countless clients providing care and guidance to individuals working through a plethora of mental health wellness difficulties. Nothing you can say will shock me. I am a big believer that you are your best counselor. You know yourself the best. You just need a little guidance, a little reassurance, and maybe a few new tools along the way to finding your balance within life's up and downs and understanding the importance of processing that in a safe and meaningful way.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Working with me you can expect to have a partner on your journey who listens to you, collaborates with you, challenges you, guides you, and reassures you. I hope that you leave each counseling session feeling heard, feeling empowered, equipped with the necessary tools to combat life's up and downs, and move forward in your own life pursuant to those dreams you had/have!

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

Treatment methods I usually use are Person-Centered, Cognitive-Behavioral, Imagery, and a few others client dependent. Every client is different and I try to match the best method to my client and their needs. Person-Centered is focused on the client and we move at their pace. Cognitive-Behavioral is working through your thoughts, cognitions and reframing them along with behavior changes with tools and homework.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I feel my greatest strengths are in my own life experiences and therapy I have had. We all have our issues! I have had the greatest experiences with women in relationships, anxiety, stress, substance use, self-esteem, and a few others. I consider myself a life-learning student in this field and am always reading and learning new ways to help myself and my clients. I enjoy challenging myself and expanding my expertise!
