Everyone needs assistance and guidance from time to time. I have spent the majority of my career in mental health working with the homeless population, youth, teens and individuals with severe mental health concerns. I have helped individuals to navigate a variety of issues. I am comfortable working with individuals who are on the Autism Spectrum, the LGBTQ+ population, navigating trauma related issues, anxiety, depression, and management of interpersonal relationships. I believe people should be allowed to grow and progress from whatever type of issues they are struggling with while being treating with compassion, respect and care. Each client should leave a session with tools they can implement in their own lives, even if that is just the release of being able to talk about their troubles or concerns. I approach therapy with a variety of modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Sometimes our emotions just become too much for us to deal with on our own. I believe my sessions are compassionate, yet challenging enough to help you grow. My experience is not only academic but personal as well. I hope that you will benefit from speaking with me and I can help you enrich your life and reach your full potential. At this time, most of my availability is on weekends due to other obligations, but I am hoping to expand availability soon. Please be mindful of this is you agree to connect with me as a therapist.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the first session, I want to get to know you and hear about specific struggles you are facing. I review your current situation and circumstances, history, support system and any coping skills you have been utilizing that help. I also try to ask basic questions about sleep and appetite.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I find that my biggest strength is my compassion and creativity. I don’t believe every problem has a one size fits all solution and I truly want to work with you wherever you are in your journey to help you get to where you would like to be. I am not only a person who has extensive experience working with clients on mental health needs, but also a person who has personal experience as well

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavior Therapy is about the relationship between thoughts, emotions, and behavior. I utilize this approach to help clients consider alternative perspectives in situations, reduce tendencies to overthink with automatic negative thoughts and recover more quickly when thought patterns are resulting in emotional distress. I have been certified in this treatment method and incorporating it in my practice since 2017

Daialectical Behavior (DBT)

This treatment method focuses on management of overwhelming emotions. The focus utilizes mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance and emotional regulation as a means to manage intense emotional responses.

Gender-affirming therapy

I believe in honoring each person as they are and providing support for clients who are navigating gender and sexuality related concerns and needs.

Compassion Focused

I feel that compassion should be a foundation in any therapeutic relationship and I encourage my clients to practice compassion and kindness toward themselves in all endeavors. I feel that mistakes in life do not define us and that all individuals have the potential for growth and progress.

Trauma Informed Care

Trauma is a tricky topic. I do not pressure my clients to share traumas, but focus on meeting them where they are in the process of understanding how trauma has impacted their lives and relationships. I do not push my clients to share past traumas during sessions, but provide support and compassion in their efforts to understand how trauma has affected them.
