Hello, I am a licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) based in NY. I completed my MS degree in Mental Health Counseling at Queens College, CUNY. I have over 11 yrs of clinical experience across various settings including structured outpatient programs, large non-profits, residential programs, private practice, and educational settings. I also completed a Doctorate with a clinical concentration in integrated behavioral health. DBH practitioners are primarily concerned with how people's behaviors affect their overall well-being.
Clients can expect to receive client-centered high-quality care from a therapist who understands and respects their needs, attitudes, and concerns. Clients will have a safe space to process their feelings and thoughts freely. Clients will be supported and taught how to question their negative thoughts and change their behaviors.
My greatest strength as a provider is my ability to actively listen to patients and truly understand their concerns, which allows me to create personalized treatment plans that address their individual needs. Empathy is another key strength of mine, I strive to connect with patients on a personal level and provide compassionate care. I am also dedicated to patient education, taking the time to explain symptoms and coping strategies clearly so patients feel confident in their mental health treatment journey.
I use CBT to help clients become more aware of their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Clients work on recognizing and changing negative or irrational thoughts and beliefs, which will help them view challenging situations more clearly and respond to them more effectively.
Through the humanistic approach, I offer empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuine concern for my clients and their experiences. This is vital for the therapist-client relationship so clients can feel comfortable being fully transparent, exploring their feelings, and speaking openly. My holistic attitude allows me to see my clients beyond pathology and believe they are inherently capable of growth and change.
Strength-based therapy has helped my clients by building a positive mindset, recognizing their strengths, finding solutions, and improving independence. Clients have used this method to form deeper relationships with others, reduce anxiety and depression, Increase self-esteem, and Increase motivation.
Using an empathetic motivational interviewing approach, I seek to guide clients to expressions of change talk as the pathway to change. This method helps clients change their behavior by helping them identify their own motivations for change. My role is to help clients examine the discrepancies between their current circumstances/behavior and their values and future goals.
Trauma often results in experiences of low self-esteem, shame, and depression that can affect how a person feels about themselves. I create a safe space for my clients to address the traumatic event and process their emotions. Trauma-focused therapy helps clients learn and develop healthier coping skills and rebuild their sense of self.
