Hi! I'm a licensed Marriage Family Therapist practicing for 15 years. I graduated with a Masters of Sciences in Counseling from California Baptist College in Riverside, Ca. I have committed to helping individuals and couples gain insight to making changes in specific areas of their life. I take the position to work alongside as a coach, listener, guide and teacher (at times) to ensure therapeutic satisfaction.
The first session is often very daunting because the individual(s) may have preconceived thoughts or fears. I make it a point to listen, gain an understanding to the presenting problem and establish rapport.
Having worked with all ages, I've mastered empathy and rapport building. I make it point to listen to engage fully. This makes working through problems much more satisfying.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a very good theoretical orientation that displays progress within 1 to 6 sessions. The concepts and treatment skills are practical and can work as a foundational premise (corrects faulty thinking patterns) for problem solving with individual, group and couples work.
I hold a passion for couples work. I like to use the Gottman curriculum, Satir and Family Systems theoretical orientations implemented to ensure problem solving and connection. Creating emotional safety is my number one goal to assist couples with addressing underlying issues to produce relational congruence.
My experience with SFT has been over the course of my career because of the immediate outcomes. SFT aids clients in gaining insight to what works vs not and validates current progress easily.
