Hi! I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with a Masters degree in Psychology with over 14 years experience. I have worked in Community Mental Health providing trauma therapy for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. As a Clinical Director of a Dual Diagnosis treatment center I worked exclusively with client experiencing mood disorders such as Bipolar Disorder I and II, Depression and Anxiety. Additionally I have worked extensively with couples and families. I work with clients ages 18+, stuggling with anxiety, relationship issues, trauma, life transitions.
First session is hearing all about the client and what brings them into therapy at this time. I want to know what's going on right now, in this moment. I will also touch on some general therapy 101 information including confidentiality and scheduling protocol. But initially I want to make sure that the client has a chance to express themselves and feels comfortable doing so with me.
I believe my ability to connect with clients on a human to human level. Clients can expect to feel warmth and a genuine interest in what is happening with them. I also feel very strongly that a client identifes goals of therapy so we can make sure we are on the right track. Providing accountablity is a strength that is very important for me as a mental health provider
EMDR is an effective and non invasive way to treat trauma, or just things that you seem to get “stuck” on. Clients have expressed how beneficial this modality has been for them. It helps to reduce symptoms of both anxiety and depression. In addition, it’s a great way to understand yourself better. This really helps you understand what's really at the root of all those feelings!
CBT is effective and straight forward. It helps identify specific thoughts and feelings and patterns of behavior. It requires active participation from the client between sessions. It’s great for clients who prefer a more clear cut and task oriented therapy.
