As a clinical social worker with over 20 years of experience, I have had the privilege of working with culturally, economically and ethnically diverse individuals, families, couples and groups from all walks of life. I have practiced domestically and internationally including, NYC, California and most recently in Dublin, Ireland. (Please note that I am only taking tele-therapy clients and use a HIPPA approved site. I have found using tele-therapy to be very convenient for clients with challenging schedules). I have extensive knowledge and training related to gender identity, sexuality, non-traditional relationships; i.e. polyamory/open relationships, as well as expertise and personal experience with personality disorders including: Narcissism; Borderline; Avoidant; Antisocial and the emotional trauma experienced in relationships with people affected by these mental health issues.
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then discuss specific challenges you are dealing with to help create a tailored therapeutic plan to work through in follow up sessions.
Taking the step to enter into therapy can be a difficult but rewarding one. I feel passionately that therapeutic change is possible and sustainable with commitment, vision and conscious effort to alter negative behavioral patters and situations. I pride myself on creating an empathetic, nonjudgmental and collaborative approach to create a strong therapeutic alliance with my clients to put them at ease and enable them to process underlying emotional conflicts and stressors to assist with managing symptoms and attaining their individual therapeutic goals.
I have used CBT to assist my clients to learn how to identify and change the destructive or disturbing thought patterns that have a negative influence on their behavior and emotions. Faulty thoughts are identified, challenged, and replaced with more objective, realistic thoughts.
I have utilized Attachment-based therapy to look at the connection between early attachment experiences with primary caregivers, usually with parents, and the ability to develop healthy emotional and physical relationships as an adult. Attachment-based therapy aims to build or rebuild a trusting, supportive relationship that will help prevent or treat mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression.
I have utilized Eclectic therapy to draw on multiple theoretical orientations and techniques which offer a flexible and multifaceted approach to therapy that allows me to tailor the most effective methods available to address each individual client's needs.
