I challenge you while celebrating the changes you are making in your life. I help you to look at your concerns from a different perspective. I can help you identify your roadblocks as you move in the direction to become the person you want to be. I am not the typical therapist in that I do not use a cookie cutter approach to treatment. I like to work with my clients in a way that empowers them while challenging their thinking patterns to change the behaviors that are no longer serving them. With over 30 years of experience, I have developed an expertise in substance abuse, depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, borderline personality disorders and high functioning autism spectrum disorder. I utilize action methods with traditional therapy techniques to help you explore and break through the thought processes and behaviors that are holding you back from being the person you want to be. Through a collaborative approach, I meet you where you are at and assist your growth.
In our first session together we will go over expectations for services. I will answer any questions that you have of me as a therapist. I will clarify information shared in your intake paperwork. I will explore with you previous therapy attempts and what worked or didn't work for you. I work with you to identify goals for treatment.
My biggest strength is meeting you where you are, free of judgement. Understanding that no two clients are the same, I meet your individual needs through adjusting my presentation, interaction and techniques. We will create trust through me holding you accountable and encouraging you to look at yourself honestly. I join my clients in such a way that it creates a safe, non-judgmental zone that fosters exploration, implementation, adjustment and ultimately change.
I have attended numerous training on this therapy method. I utilize it to meet my clients where they are at and to allow clients to work at their pace while identifying what they are willing to do versus unwilling to do. I then help them to work up to moving out of their comfort zone.
I have utilized this therapy approach for the past thirty plus years in treating individuals who suffer from substance use disorders.
I have been trained in motivational interviewing and I have trained others in this modality. I utilize it to help my clients gain clarity of what they want to do in treatment. To help them reach their goals
I utilize numerous treatment modalities because I know that there is no one way to promote change. No two individuals are the same. By being open to different approaches I am able to meet my clients where they are at while helping them to move out of their comfort zone to reach their goals.
