Hi!! Welcome! My name is Jamie. I received my MA in Marriage and Family Therapy from National University in CA and have been practicing now for 4 years. First I would like to acknowledge that you have taken the first biggest step and scariest step to a to working towards your healing journey. I'm proud of you! I work from from a person-centered approach that incorporates influences from attachment and psychoanalytic perspectives. I collaborate with clients to identify and enlist their internal strengths and resources to approach life’s challenges. I have a background in healing various traumas through trauma informed somatic therapy, inner child trauma work, OCD, mood disorders, couples work, and addictions. I have helped many clients gain the tools and guidance they needed to live a happier life for themselves.
In our first session, I will create a pace that feels comfortable for you. I will explain what you can expect, as well as, get to know about what is bringing you to therapy, what your goals are in order for me to build the best fitted treatment plan for you.
I believe in making clients feel comfortable, safe and heard.
I specialize in OCD and and ERP. I utilize ERP as a primary treatment method to treat OCD. It is the number one treatment for OCD. ERP gradually exposes someone with OCD to their feared situations or triggers, while simultaneously teaching you to resist your compulsive behaviors (response prevention).
In addition to ERP, I incorporate ACT method to treat OCD. It is an important piece when treating OCD in conjunction with ERP. This helps teach you to accept your intrusive thoughts and feelings without trying to fight them, instead focusing on living a meaningful life according to their values, even while experiencing these obsessions.
With IFS, I help you identify and understand the different "parts" within yourself, treating them like an internal family, and then work to cultivate compassion and curiosity towards these parts, allowing you to access your "Self" which is a core sense of calm and wisdom, ultimately leading to healing and integration of these parts within you.
I have been utilize CBT method for over 4 years now. I actively work with you to identify and challenge any negative thought patterns, then teaching strategies to replace those thoughts with more helpful ones, ultimately aiming to change your behaviors and improve your emotional well-being by addressing the connection between thoughts, feelings, and actions.
I utilize somatic therapy which focuses on mindful body awareness, movement exercises, breathing exercises, and touch to address the connection between the mind and body. I typically utilize this approach when I am working with client who have a experienced trauma or have deeply held emotional experiences stored in their bodies.
