Alaura Hobbs
I’m Alaura Hobbs, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who works with adults navigating ADHD, anxiety, overwhelm, burnout, and life transitions. My approach is practical, supportive, and goal focused. I especially enjoy helping people who are used to holding everything together but are ready for life to feel more manageable, organized, and balanced.
First session
Our first session is relaxed, collaborative, and focused on getting to know you as a whole person. We’ll talk about what has been feeling difficult, what you would like to change, what is already working, and what you hope to gain from therapy. I especially enjoy working with teachers, educators, helping professionals, and adults who are managing anxiety, ADHD, overwhelm, burnout, self-doubt, relationship stress, or a life transition. Our first session is relaxed and collaborative. We will spend time getting to know you, what has been feeling difficult, what you would like to change, what is already working, and what you hope to get from therapy. You do not need to arrive with everything figured out. Together, we will identify a few meaningful goals and begin looking at practical strategies that may help you feel more organized, confident, grounded, and intentional in your everyday life. I especially enjoy working with adults navigating anxiety, ADHD, overwhelm, burnout, self-doubt, work or relationship stress, and life transitions. My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling understood and with a clearer sense of what we can work on together.
Strengths
I bring curiosity, compassion, and a practical approach to sessions. I am good at helping clients break big, overwhelming problems into smaller, manageable steps. I also focus on helping clients better understand how their mind works, recognize patterns, build useful skills, and create strategies that feel realistic for their actual life.
Ideal clients
I work best with young adults and adults who are dealing with anxiety, ADHD, overwhelm, burnout, self-doubt, work stress, relationship stress, or a major life transition. I especially enjoy working with teachers, educators, helping professionals, and people who are used to managing a lot for everyone else. Many of my clients are capable and responsible but feel scattered, stretched too thin, stuck, or unsure about what needs to change. They may want to feel more organized, confident, grounded, or intentional in their everyday life. My approach is collaborative, practical, and individualized. Together, we work on understanding patterns, building useful coping and emotional regulation skills, improving self-awareness, and creating realistic strategies that fit your actual life. I am best suited for clients who are open to reflection, practical change, and skills-based therapy focused on meaningful personal growth.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT helps us look at how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected. In sessions, we may identify patterns that are keeping you stuck and work together to build practical tools that support more balance, clarity, and confidence.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
DBT-informed therapy can help you build skills for managing big emotions, calming your nervous system, tolerating stress, and responding more intentionally instead of feeling controlled by the moment.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Mindfulness helps you pause, notice what is happening internally, and respond with more awareness. In therapy, we may use grounding, breathing, or present-moment strategies to help you feel more centered and less overwhelmed.
Somatic
Somatic therapy helps you understand how emotions and stress can show up in the body. We may use gentle body-awareness or grounding practices to support calm, emotional balance, and nervous system regulation.
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing helps you explore what matters to you, where you feel stuck, and what changes feel realistic. The goal is not pressure, but helping you move toward choices that feel aligned and manageable.
